Congratulations to the schools that had a 95% and above attendance rate for the first month of school that ended September 11th. Roosevelt and Wahama were the attendance winners for the month with 96% and 95.9.% attendance. Ashton, New Haven, Point Pleasant Primary School, and Mason County Career Center all had 95% #MasonProud #AttendanceMatters
Kindergarten students had a signing day when they started school this year. They signed a contract committing to 1. Regular attendance 2. Following rules 3. Doing one's best academically 4. Graduate #MasonProud

Families, we want to say Thank You for investing your most valuable resource with us. We are committed to helping your student achieve success and reach his or her goals. September is Attendance Awareness Month. Attention has been focused on chronic absenteeism, which includes both excused and unexcused days, because any loss of instruction has an impact on a student. We are here to help and look forward to working with you. A magnet was provided to every student, if you did not receive one, please contact your child’s school and ask for another. This magnet provides a place to keep track of any days missed, in addition to resources that you may find valuable. Again, a reminder there was a printing error and Election Day is November 5, not November 8.

As we prepare to welcome our students back, we are excited to share two initiatives with you. First, every student will receive a magnet with important dates, resources, and an attendance tracker. Our goal is good attendance, or an attendance rate of 95% or better. This is accomplished by missing less than 9 days of school to maximize student learning. We look forward to working with our students and families to address concerns and develop plans to aid in achievement. Every day matters. Second, we will be having friendly competitions between our schools. Each month, we will be recognizing the secondary and elementary school with the best attendance. Additionally, we will recognize schools with an attendance rate of 95% or better. We can’t wait to see you! #everythinginpursuitofrigor

A focus on safety & security continues for Mason County Schools as staff & students prepare to return for the 24-25 school year. Planning includes an opening day active shooter exercise for all county staff at Point Pleasant Junior Senior High School lead by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in coordination with state & local police enforcement agencies. The ongoing partnerships established between Mason County Schools and federal, state, & local law enforcement continue to be critical in maintaining safe campuses for our communities, students, and staff.
