The following buses will be running amended routes due to the bridge closure on Rt. 62 near Dead Man's Curve. This will be in place until the WV DOH opens the bridge: Bus 154 - Jeremy Huffman - will not be running all of Rt. 62 131- Sherry Edwards - will not be running all of Rt. 62 from Leon Baden to Point Pleasant 184- formerly Daniel Thomas's route - will not be running Rt. 62 from Leon Baden to Point Pleasant These changes will be in effect until the DOH gives us the " all clear " that the bridge can be used

Families - please listen closely to the following announcement. Due to unforseen road closures on route 62 in the vicinity of dead man's curve, students riding the following buses will be dismissed to return home on the buses. This only affects students on buses 131, bus 154, bus, 184, and bus 142. The buses will leave Point Pleasant Junior Senior High School at 12:30pm and proceed to Roosevelt Elementary to pick up their students there. Again, this only applies to students riding the following buses 131, bus 154, bus 184, and bus 142. If you have any questions please contact your child's principal. Again we are sorry for this interruption to the day.

The Mason County Career Center is hosting an Open House Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM. Everyone is welcome. Come learn about MCCC programs, tour the Career Center, and meet the instructors. You can even enroll in classes and get help with your FAFSA. There will be games and prizes. Mason County Board of Education will hold an Open Public Discussion on the proposed 2026/2027 school calendar at the Regular Business Meetings held on February 24 and March 10, 2026, at the Mason County Board of Education Office, beginning at 6:00 PM.

Currently, the WVDE has not released any type of waiver application. We want to explain how the process actually works. The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) is closely monitoring winter weather impacts across the state. Once storms have fully passed and instructional losses can be accurately assessed, WVDE will determine whether a waiver process will be made available to counties. Under WV Code §18-5-45, the State Superintendent may reduce the required instructional term only for counties declared a federal disaster area or under a Governor-declared emergency when the emergency is directly related to lost instructional days. In short: • Waiver applications are only available once the WVDE and State Superintendent have deemed them necessary. • Counties may apply for a waiver when and if that occurs. • After a waiver is submitted, approval is determined by the WVDE and State Superintendent. We appreciate everyone's patience as we follow state law and guidance. We'll share updates as soon as new information is provided by WVDE.

The Mason County Board of Education recognized Math Field Day winners tonight at the Board Meeting. These students will move on to the Regional Math Field Day at Marshall University February 27, 2026.
